Your
wedding is no time to experiment with untested
businesses. How many weddings do they do a year?
Ask for at least five vendor referrals. Vendor
referrals, from other professionals in the area,
are usually more reliable than bridal referrals.
Caution: Do NOT work with any business that receives
referral fees or commissions from another. Ask
about professional organizations to which they
belong. (NOTE: while belonging to an association
is important, realize that there are some unprofessional
organizations and associations and often their
only requirement is paying dues). If claiming
"We are voted #1," check out the Association
that gave the certification. Inquire about required
licenses, insurance and health permits (if they
are in the food industry).
And,
lastly ask several others if they have a good
reputation in the local business community? After
all, professional businesses should work smoothly
together at your wedding. Good team players make
all the difference.
